About Bruce
Bill Bruce, CAE is the Executive Director, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Prior to joining ACOEM, Mr. Bruce was chief technology officer at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons where he oversaw a staff of 35 across membership, customer service, and technology teams. He managed operating and capital budgets exceeding $4MM, and was accountable for more than $20MM in revenue. During his tenure at AAOS, Mr. Bruce successfully overhauled the AAOS web and technology functions ensuring consistency, efficacy, and ease of use in online membership, meeting and educational programming. He worked closely with members of the AAOS Board, and many of its committees where his focus on member value and mission alignment helped shape many strategic initiatives.
Before joining AAOS, Mr. Bruce was the Chief Information Officer at the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in Arlington, Va., for more than a decade.
Mr. Bruce holds two degrees from the University of Maryland: a bachelor’s degree in information systems management, and an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business focusing on business strategy, finance, human capital and operations.
